Singapore Tourist Visa

亲爱的's birthday is coming, and we're going to celebrate her birthday in Bangkok. My plan is to arrange for her to come to Singapore to stopover for 2 days, and then proceed to Bangkok for another 6 days. Since Thailand allows visa on arrival for Chinese citizens, she would only need to take care of the Singapore visa. 亲爱的 is a simple girl, and she's afraid of complications. Last year, she applied the Thailand Visa herself, which is supposedly a great task for her. Since I could actually apply an e-visa on her behalf from the Singapore Immigration and Customs Authority, she would rather I do it for her, then she do it herself at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing.

Maybe she's not so lucky after all. I received this acknowledgment from the ICA.



Now that she cannot come to Singapore, we'll have to change our plans. We'll postpone our Bangkok trip to September, and she can go to the Thailand embassy in Beijing to apply for the tourist visa. I still have to see her this month. Maybe we'll meet in Xiamen instead.

拜金女

拜金女 means Material Girl. With a average monthly salary of just 2,000 yuan, most girls living in Beijing won't be able to live a luxurious lifestyle. After deducting necessities like food, lodging, transportation, there is only a few hundred yuan left. It's certainly not enough to buy the Chanel No. 5, or the iPhone 4.

亲爱的 used to work as an office administrator when I first dated her. Her salary was about 1,800 yuan and at that time she did not stay with her aunt, but shared an apartment with her colleagues. She paid 800 yuan a month for the apartment. She realized that it was a waste of her time, so she quit the job, joined her aunt in the business, and move in to stay with her. I think this is more practical as she's just wasting her time if she were to continue working as an office administrator. 亲爱的 is earning about 4,000 yuan a month now. Not bad for a 22 years old girl in Beijing.

There are girls that can tolerate a simple lifestyle, but there are also others who are materialistic, and they would find other means to achieve their dreams. Having a rich husband is the ultimate way, but how by the time the guy is a high income earner, he's probably married. It would be easier for these girls to be mistresses for one or more men. Just last week, a Shanghainese girl added me in QQ, and we chatted. She's only 20 years old, and claimed that she likes to befriend older men. Although it was only the first time we chatted, she spoke like we have known each other for a long time. Anyway, here is a photo of her. I wonder how many men are subsidizing her living expenses?

Fox Spirits

Fox spirits are introduced in some Chinese legands, and they are usually potrayed as pretty, sexy but evil. For example in Feng Shen Bang story, King Zhou's concubine Daji is a 1,000 years old fox spirit in disguise, and her mission is to create havoc in the palace to end the Shang Dynasty. They appear in other tales, and there is one thing is common about fox spirits is that no men can withstand their temptation. Once men go to bed with the fox spirits, they would slowly lose their mind, and some might even die, after their soul have been sucked by the fox spirits.

Fox spirits are actually foxes. Somehow they learnt to practise black magic, and they continued to live, for hundreds and thousands of years. Their skills are so powerful and can disguise as young and pretty girls.

The legend continues to live. There are many fox spirits in today's modern society, especially in China. Girls that mesmerize guys, especially married guys, are labeled as Fox Spirits. Since I have been mesmerize by my 亲爱的, I called her Rabbit Spirit, since she's born in the year of the Rabbit. 亲爱的 likes to bite my cheek and my chin. One day, she's probably going to swallow me alive.
