My Christmas Wish

My 亲爱的 doesn't know how to celebrate Christmas, because it is not a common practice in China. Moreover, it is also not a public holiday. Hotels

Hotels are my 2nd home, since I spend almost 50% of my working days outside Singapore. The Most Expensive Pocket Mirror

This is how I jailbreak and hack her iPhone:
1. upgrade the firmware from 3.0 to 3.12
2. Download the windows version of blackra1n from http://blackra1n.com/
3. connect the iPhone to my laptop and run blackra1n.
4. Once the iPhone is rebooted, the phone is jailbroken.
5. Go to Cydia in iPhone.
6. Add source cydia.hackulo.us
7. Install Appsync from the hackulo.us category
8. Restart iPhone.

As you may have noticed, I have slowed down my blogging activities. Dujiangyan 都江堰

Pattaya Trip Part 3

On Sunday morning we woke up 9am for breakfast at the hotel. I suggested to 亲爱的 that we should get another piece of swimwear for her, since she's not comfortable wearing the bikini we bought yesterday. She selected this piece, and we went for a swim in the pool after that.







亲爱的 is a very vain girl. When she doesn't look good in the mirror, she has to clean the mirror.



In the evening,we strolled long the streets of Pattaya.

Pattaya Trip Part 2

It was hot and sunny in Pattaya beach. 亲爱的 couldn't take the heat, so upon checking into the hotel, we walked across to Central Festival to have lunch. 亲爱的 is very picky on food. The last time I brought her to a Thai restaurent in Beijing, and she didn' like the food there. To play safe on the first day, we had MK steam boat. We ordered the famous MK roast duck and had steam boat with vegetables, toufu, fish balls, etc. She enjoyed the food there, except for the green noodle, as she complaint that the noodles were too hard and dry. After lunch, we decided to go back to the room to take a nap, as 亲爱的 didn't sleep well during the red eye flight to Singapore. Obviously we made love after going back to the room before falling asleep.

We woke up at 8pm and made love again. After that, 亲爱的 was feeling a bit hungry and decided to take a stroll along the streets of Pattaya. Since she didn't have any swimming costume, I bought this bikini set for her. 亲爱的 was very uncomfortable as she felt that she would be revealing too much of her assets.



After 2 hours of walking, she was tired, and we headed back to the hotel to rest. 亲爱的 gave me a good 30 minutes of massage, and I fell asleep.

Pattaya Trip Part 1

Last Saturday, 亲爱的 was on SQ801 and she arrived from Beijing to Changi Airport Terminal 3, at about 6 am. There was a Chinese guy who sat next to her in the plane, and 亲爱的 asked him for direction to Terminal 2. Since he was also going to Terminal 2, 亲爱的 followed him. I arrived the airport at 6:50 am, and by the time I crossed immigration, it is 7am. I instructed 亲爱的 to go to any public phone in the airpot and called my mobile number at 7am, so that I can locate her. I waited until 7:15am, and then my phone rang. It was 亲爱的！She said she was standing opposite an electronic shop. From far, I managed to see a young girl in t-shirt and jeans on the phone. She wasn't looking at my direction, so I quietly walked towards her and tapped on her shoulder. She turned back and smiled. Oh, that sweet face, although it was only one month ago, I really miss her a lot. Since we only need to go to the gate at 8:10am, there is still one hour to hang around, so I brought her to the food court upstairs to have coffee and food. I didn't hug her or hold her hands while walking as there could be familiar faces around.亲爱的 understood this rule as she didn't want to get me into trouble.

We boarded the plane around 8:15am. Since it was a Saturday morning, the plane was less than 30% filled. We had the last row, which has only 2 seats on the side. Nobody is in front of us or at the centre row. There were 2 couples occupying on other side. During the plane take off, we kissed passionately. The taste of her saliva is so sweet, I don't know if the air crew were looking as they were sitting directly behind us, but who cares?

We arrived the Bangkok airport at 10am. After we walked out to the arrival hall, we walked down one level to locate the counter for the aircon bus going to Pattaya. The next trip is scheduled at 11am, and the jouney took about 1.5 hrs to reach Pattaya bus station. We were chatting all the way, so it didn't take too long before arriving Pattaya bus terminal. We got out and took a taxi to our hotel, the Baron Beach hotel.

Since it was her birthday celebration, I booked a deluxe room, which is pool facing. This is how our view looked like.







Next to our hotel is the Central Festival shopping mall. It is good for meals, but a big NO for shopping. The price is rediculously high. Better off to check out the shops along the streets of Pattaya.

戒赌

I almost got into an accident yesterday while driving when my 亲爱的 told me over the phone that she's going to 戒赌。四川人会戒赌，小狗也会上树！ What happened was that her aunt has been neglecting her 9 month old son for the past few days, and 亲爱的's grandma, who has been taking care of the baby, has finally raised her concern to both of them. She said that for the baby's sake, they should stop the mahjong sessions. I said to 亲爱的, 别说戒赌，这是不可能的,你们就少玩一点麻将吧，一两个礼拜一次，那你的外婆就不会出声了。要不然我们打赌，看你们可以忍多久！

Mahjong Marathon

My 亲爱的 has been playing mahjong everyday since Friday. It's really wake-up, mahjong, dinner, mahjong, sleep and wake-up, mahjong .... whenever her aunt or her friends want to play mahjong, she is defintely part of it. Our phone conversations have been like this since:

Me: 喂，听到吗？
亲爱的: 听到
Me: 你在干嘛？(heard sound of mahjong tiles) 打麻将啊？
亲爱的：恩，是啊
Me: 那不打扰你了
亲爱的：没事，可以讲一会儿
Me: 有赢钱吗？
亲爱的：赢了两百块
Me: 手气这么好？
亲爱的：是啊
Me: 那打到几点？
亲爱的：多一会儿吧
Me: 那明天才打给你吧，给我赢多一点钱
亲爱的：好啦
Me: 嗯。。爱你。。bye bye
亲爱的：bye bye

So today, I told 亲爱的 that I really need to talk to her tomorrow about our Pattaya trip. I need to explain to her about taking the SQ flight from Beijing to Singapore, and how to go from terminal 3 to terminal 2, and where to wait for me. Well, it's only a few days before we go for our honeymoon. I'm so excited about it, while she's so engrossed in the game. Actually I'm not complaining, because she's really good in mahjong, she wins 9 out of 10 games.

H1N1 ?

I've been down with a bad flu since returning from Hong Kong last Thursday. Don't know if it is H1N1, but at least I don't have any fever; just sore throat, runny nose, and a wet cough. Went to see the doctor last Friday. I have already completed the medicine, but still no sign of recovery. This evening I went to seek consultation again to get more medicine. Hopefully I can recover soon. 亲爱的 is very concern about my health. She said that if we're living together, she'll ensure that I am well taken care of, and not fall sick so easily.

Happy Birthday To 亲爱的

I've not done any posting for quite a while because there wasn't anything eventful for the last one week. It has been a daily routine for me to talk to my 亲爱的 over the phone or skype. For the past few days, I have been busy planning for my 亲爱的's 22nd birthday celebration. Her birthday is on the 7 moon 6 day of the Chinese calendar, so for this year, it falls on the 25/8, which is another 2 weeks to go. My plan to bring her to Bangkok and Pattaya for holidays. Pattaya has very nice beach resort, and this would be something different for her. I told her that she'll need to put on a bikini at the beach, and this has kind of frighten her. 亲爱的 is very conservative and does not like to show off her assets. She's also afraid to lose her fair complexion under the hot Sun. It's no turning back now as I have already booked the air tickets and the hotel room. 亲爱的 will go to the Thai embassy to get her Visa done tomorrow. My 亲爱的 always wanted an iPhone, so last week, I bought this new iPhone 3G as a birthday gift for her. I picked a 3G instead of a 3GS because she is not really a tech savy person, so 8Gb is more than enough to store her mp3 files.

Ah Lim Final Chapter

I have written about Ah Lim and his fuck buddy experience in my previous posts. I thought he has mixed feelings about transforming Celine from a good friend to a fb. He felt that he has lost a good friend as Celine was a good companion for him before that. They went shopping, spa, movies, dinner clubbing, like what other dating couples did, except they didn't hold hands. They talked about work and life, and Celine would give a listening ear when Ah Lim needed to pour out his frustration on his business. Well, thanks to me, I challenged Ah Lim to get close to Celine, and he finally made it. But it was a sad ending. Celine has stopped responding to Ah Lim's SMS, or answering his phone calls a month ago, and just today, I found out that Celine has changed her phone number without telling Ah Lim. Maybe Celine is guilty of the relationship as she already has a boyfriend. I thought this girl is very cold hearted. At least she should clear things with him, and not do the disappearing act. If she wants to stop the relationship, they can still remain as friends. Ah Lim just need to keep his hands in his pockets when they ever go out again. After this bad experience, Ah Lim will probably stop thinking of finding another FB soon.

Lovers and Friends / 迷惘

For now, I'm using the music from Chris Spheeris' Lovers and Friends as my blog's background music. However, Chris Spheeris is not the composer. Actually the first time I came across this music was from the G2000 commercials in Singapore during the late 80's. Since then, I fell in love with the music.



The song in the commercial is sang by Hong Kong singer / composer 郭小霖, and the title is 迷惘. He wasn't not very popular those days, only die-hard Canto-pop fans like me would know him. After a few years of struggle, he disappeared from the music scene. The sweet young thing in the commercial is 叶蕴仪.

Chris Spheeris picked this up in 1994 in his album Desires. I did not know about it until 2001 when I heard Lovers and Friends in the Best of Chris Spheeris. Today, it is still one of my favourite piece.

Oh, and why am I not writing about my 亲爱的? Since she has decided not to move out of her aunt's house, she has been busy playing mahjong with her aunt everyday. Her aunt said mahjong can help them to lose weight.

Not Moving Out

Today 亲爱的 told me that she has changed her mind of moving out of her aunt's place because she thought that the expenses are really unnecessary. She would also miss the mahjong sessions with her aunt as playing mahjong is her favourite past time. Therefore the final decision to stay with her aunt until ..... Her downpaymnet of RMB300 has been forfeited, but what the heck, she can win back the money from the game. In fact she was busy with her mahjong games for the past 2 days when I called her from Seoul.

Moving Out

亲爱的 has decided to move out from her aunt's place. Together with a friend, they're going to rent an apartment in 望京 as she is used to this area. Yesterday we went around checking on rental apartments but she couldn't find anything she liked. Today I have to go to Seoul, therefore she continued her mission alone. When I called her just now, she told me she has found a one bedroom apartment, and the rental is RMB2,100 per month. She's going to move in tomorrow. 亲爱的 said I can viist her new home during my next trip to Beijing. I don't know when my next trip is going to be, but I don't think it is so soon.

Weekend In Beijing

I've arrived in Beijing on Wednesday, and will be staying here over the weekend until Monday. Obviously my 亲爱的 has been staying with me since. We haven't planned what to do during the weekend, but since I have brought my Nikon D60 DSRLR camera with me, we'll probably be doing some photo shootings around Beijing. She gave me a surprise last night by wearing this set of lingerie before going to bed. Oh man!

A Message To Her Aunt

My 亲爱的 wrote a message to her aunt to let her know that she's very hurt after what happened the other day. This morning I heard from 亲爱的 that they have already patched up and her aunt has apologized to her.

北京的夜晚是凉爽的，但是感觉我的心更凉，没有谁可以明白我心里的苦，为什么在多的解释都是多余的，你宁愿相信别人也不要相信我，这点让我很痛心。正好验证那句俗语人言可谓呀，我的解释早就被你认定是在为我自己辩解的说辞，即使说的再多也只会越描越黑的。一直以来我都很尊敬你，虽说有时候还是有些叛逆，但那也只想过过嘴瘾罢了。今天你真的伤到我了，你让我感觉好委屈好委屈，给我扣上这么大一个‘罪名’。真的压的我喘不过气，今后的路不管我走的好还是不好，永远也不会忘了你对我的栽培。谢谢你小姨，在此也请你相信我至始至终我都没有背叛过你。

I thought this was quite well written. Anyway, glad it's all over, otherwise I won't know how to help her when I'm in Beijing next week to see her.

Possessive Relationship

The feelings of falling in love is simply magical. You're mesmerized by her, and cannot leave her alone for even one minute. You want to see her everyday, talk on the phone for hours, and in between, cannot stop thinking of her. However, as you're getting comfortable with her, the possessiveness mellows down. You know when to get serious with work, and when to have fun with her.

After two years of dating my 亲爱的, our relationship is still going strong, especially when it is a long distance relationship. She's certainly not a possessive lover. I don't receive many calls or SMS from her. She knows that I have to work during the day, and spend time with my family in the evening. It is always me that initiate the call to her: during my lunch break, while waiting for the next flight, or driving on the road to meet the next customer. She doesn't insist that I have to go Beijing every month to see her, or extend my stay in Beijing when it is time for me to return. She doesn't feel insecure as we have developed the trust needed in a healthy relationship.

What if the opposite happens? If the emotional attachment increases as the relationship develops, then insecurity develops, and this will create problems in the relationship. If your lover keeps on sending you messages every minute, knowing you are not there to receive it, then it is time to panic. This is the first sign of an obsessive lover. If due to any reason you are not able to pick up her call and she looses her temper on it, then definitely she is not in the right frame of mind.

Why should you suffer from a possessive lover? Even if you want to break up with her, she may still continue to call you up and tell you how much she misses you. Sometimes she even go to the extent of tracking you down and following you everywhere. But if you stand your ground, sooner or later this is going to end and then once more you can be a free bird.

Crying In The Rain

I had a busy day today as meetings were one after another since morning. Around 5pm, I received a sms from my 亲爱的：有时间马上给我打电话。I thought it must be something important, so I excused myself and walked out of the meeting room to call her. 喂，老婆什么事？ Then I heard her crying on the other line. Actually my 亲爱的 doesn't cry easily. I've only heard her cried once when she tried to break up with me last year. Other than that incident, it is not easy to turn on her teary tap. Even watching sad movies don't make her cry. 我在家外面，现在北京正在下雨。Then I found out from her that there is a misunderstanding between her aunt and 亲爱的, and this has caused her aunt to be really upset, and she has used very hush words on her like 你背叛了我，and even told 亲爱的 to move out of her house. Well，亲爱的 is very hurt as she really respect her aunt, and cannot understand why her aunt didn't trust her. As for me, I couldn't really do much except to lend a listening ear.

July Rhapsody

July Rhapsody (男人四十）is a movie directed by Ann Hui, and the story is about a teacher at the age of 40,and he's going through a mid-life crisis. A very seductive sweet young thing has a crush on him, and so he couldn't resist temptation and fell for her. I am 40 this year, and just like the guy in the story, I have fallen in love with a 22 year old girl. I have not planned for this; it just happened naturally. I know our age gap is just too wide apart, but if we're struck by Cupid's arrow, what else can we do?

My 亲爱的 is also puzzled why she could fall in love with me. She doesn't have the answer to it. Her dream lover is actually someone in the late 20s with established career, but it turned out to be otherwise. She thought that we are just fated to be together. Actually she has many suitors. There was this guy from Shanxi that used to give her money whenever he visited her aunt; a neighbour has proposed to her during Valentine's day with 12 stalks of roses; her ex-boyfriend tried to patch up with her over QQ. When she was in Chengdu for a month, her regular taxi driver in Beijing called her almost everyday to tell her that he missed her. Just last week, she met a few former classmates in Chengdu for drinks, and one guy asked her in the face if she could be his girlfriend. When 亲爱的 told him that she's already attached, the guy said 他可以给你的，我也做得到.

Why do I have a 亲爱的? I need some excitement to get my adrenaline going, and a new love to motivate me. My life is boring and monotonous. It is about work and home. She just happened to be there when I needed another person to fill in the missing gaps. Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I have real feelings for her. I care very much about her present and her future. I'll be helping her to set up a business in Shanghai, so that she can be financially independent. In ten years time, I like her to look back and be thankful to her 亲爱的，who has once helped her before.

Back To Beijing

My 亲爱的 is supposed to arrive in Beijing today at about 10pm. Just before going to bed, I sent her an sms:

Me: 老婆到北京了没有？

亲爱的：非常糟糕啦,我们现在还在成都.明天才能飞了,现在和小燕住机场附近的酒店.我们误机了

Me: 是你糊涂看错时间吗，还是飞机取消啦？明天几点飞机？

亲爱的：小燕拿驾照做飞机.把身份证放行李箱了.开始用驾照换到登机牌了,到登机安检的时候就过不了.就这样我们迟到了.没有上到飞机

Me: 哦 你早点休息吧，老婆好想你，希望两个礼拜会很快过 到了北京给我发讯息 明天下午给你电话.

V-Gear Talkcam DX7 Driver

亲爱的 and I always do video chat over skype. She'll be going back to Beijing tomorrow, so I will probably get see her tomorrow evening. Today I realized that my webcam is faulty. Luckily, I have another webcam in my drawer, the V-Gear Talkcam DX7, that was bought two years ago in the PC Show.



I have misplaced the CDROM. Did a search on the internet and looks like the company V-Gear from Taiwan is closed. Spent almost an hour, and finally managed to get the driver from here 412_f1_09-VDX720.rar Ran the setup, but it has detected that my XP is service pack 3 and did not allow me to continue. I have to use my old IBM T40 Thinkpad that has service pack 2 instead to run the setup. After setup is completed, I checked the contents in the directory and found the etvideo.inf and emaudio.inf files, which means I can do a Add Hardware in my present laptop. 买房子 II

I like Michael Jackson, but his death didn't really affect me. He is just one of the many pop music artists that grew up with me during the 80s and 90s. As other bloggers are mourning his death, I'm trying to get back to my normal life after a 3 days adventure in Chengdu. An important task that I have done in Chengdu is to help my 亲爱的 to purchase a studio apartment in a new condo project. The unit costs about RMB160,000, and the down payment works out to be RMB50,000. 亲爱的 said she has RMB20,000 in her savings and ask me to help her with RMB30,000, about S$6,400. I can't think of a good reason to turn her down, especially when it looks like a good investment. The keys would be ready in 3 months' time. Honestly, can I say no? We've come a long long way together, and I hate to disappoint her. On the bright side, she didn't expect me to help her with the full amount, since she knows that I am just a 打工仔. The monthly installment for the loan is about RMB800 per month for the next 20 years, and she promised me that she's going to Shanghai with me to set up business there, so that she can make enough money to service the loan. My 亲爱的 is very proud to be a landlord at the age of 22. The other thing that she's proud of is to have a 老公 that provide her with financial support when she needs it.
