The Story of Coco

We always hear different kinds of stories about PRC ladies using their charm to cheat Singapore men, from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some retirees even gave away their hard earn CPF money to exchange for "love". There are also cases where these ladies married Singapore men for the sake of getting a Singapore citizenship. On the other hand, I have not heard of PRC girls in Singapore cheated by Singapore men, not until I met Coco.

I met Coco through QQ chat. She is 24, came from Shandong, and studying hotel management in Singapore. Unlike other PRC girls who hold student passes, but work as nite club girls, Coco comes from a well-to-do family and her parents has paid for her tuition fees and her living expenses here. She's doing her third year, and should be done in another 9 months. When she first came to Singapore 2 years ago, she worked part-time as a sales promoter in computer exhibition to make extra pocket money. She met a Singapore guy called Joe, in his 40s. He came over to the booth to enquire for laptops, and has asked for Coco's phone number. After a few days, Joe began to court Coco and asked her out. Since Coco is lonely in Singapore, she obliged. They went out, and since then, they see each other very regularly. They became a couple. Half a year later, Coco discovered that Joe is a married man. Joe persuaded Coco to continue the relationship. He told her that he didn't love his wife anymore, and promised to marry her. Coco is so naive and believe every single word he said. A few months later, he started asking money from Coco to pay for his debts. He also became abusive and they started to have quarrels and fights. This relationship continued for 1.5 years and Coco finally decided to give up on him. Coco told me that she has tried to commit suicide twice during the 1.5 years. They have separated 3 months ago, and Coco is under depression. She is still love Joe, and cannot let him go. I wish I can help, but all I can do is to lend a listening ear.

Today, I received a message from Coco that she is going back to Shandong. She didn't say for how long. She may going back for good, as she hate Singapore men. Well I wish Coco all the best, and hope that she can start a new life there.
